The key to proper execution of this process lies in the precise synchronization between the control circuit and the MOSFET switch. If the switch is opened or closed too soon or too late, it can cause instability, resulting in lower than expected efficiency, poor power quality or lack of regulation. To ensure accurate synchronization, the regulator circuit is typically fed a timing signal from the input voltage source.
