RF switches are one of the most important components within an electronic system, offering a secure way in which to control the routing and connection of different signals without having to physically disconnect them. When the micro-switches are closed the signal is opened and the RF signal can be transferred from one port to the other. When the micro-switches are open the signal is cut off and the exchange of RF signals between the two ports is blocked.

The PE42420LGBB-Z also boasts excellent insertion loss (IL) and return loss (RL) characteristics, making it suitable for applications where low distortion and high signal integrity are required. The switch is rated at −31dB for IL and −35dB for RL, meaning lower levels of distortion are achieved when transferring data.

The other major advantage of the PE42420LGBB-Z is its size. It uses just 6.7mm x 3.2mm of PCB space, which is significantly smaller than its predecessors and many of its competitors on the market. This allows for much higher integration densities when used within an application, reducing the need for additional, bulkier components.
