PI3109-00-EVAL1 chipsets are advanced evaluation boards designed to support autonomous off-line AC/DC and DC/DC switching power supply operation. The board is based on P/I-RIPPER technology, which is an advanced switching power regulator control topology that enables perfect power efficiency, line and load regulation and small solution size.
The PI3109-00-EVAL1 chip is a powerful and efficient system-on-chip (SoC) power supply controller built with P/I-RIPPER switching power topology. RI on the chip is the main regulator that interfaces with an external field-effect transistor (FET) to provide a high-performance, tight-regulation power supply of up to 1.8 Amp with dynamic load and line regulation within 0.1 Vpp. It also provides constant current limiting, hysteresis over-voltage protection, and frequency jittering to prevent EMI/EMC issues.
The PI3109-00-EVAL1 combines RI and the Pre-Driver drivers to deliver a highly integrated compact package with tight regulation. The dual-channel Pre-Driver and driver ensures stable waveform conditions with ultra-low quiescent current, enabling low power consumption, fast transient response, and wide load-conditions regulation for high power efficiency and greater design flexibility.
P/I-RIPPER, the foundation of the PI3109-00-EVAL1 chipset, is a two-part regulation system that provides superior dynamic line and load regulation as well as very low output noise. P/I-RIPPER utilizes Phase Interleaving (PI), which provides for ultra-low noise and tight regulation, and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM), which allows for a very wide range of regulation. These two features make the PI3109-00-EVAL1 an ideal choice for a wide range of applications, from low voltage lighting to audio visual systems and high power portable computing.
The PI3109-00-EVAL1 offers a variety of features for low power consumer applications, including low-noise, fast transient response, low power consumption, fast fault detection and conditions, soft start, and protection, and provide an advanced solution for AC/DC and DC/DC switching power supply designs.
