Common Mode Chokes are electronic devices composed of many windings - typically copper wires - surrounding a core which is often made of ferrite. It is compliant to the RoHS directive and supports overvoltage protection in accordance with the IEC 60950-1 safety protocols. It also provides excellent attenuation for differential and common mode noise. Additionally, the PL8201T is compatible with various system designs which meet different application requirements.The working principle behind the PL8201T is simple. It consists of a two-layer coil winding arrangement to create a magnetic flux that interacts with the magnetic core, which generates a “leakage inductance”. The induction of the current varies depends on the frequency of the current passed through the choke. The induced current generates a large, opposing, induced magnetic flux which cancels out the higher frequency, unwanted, noise and reduces the levels of EMI. At the same time, the PL8201T still allows the low-frequency power line and signal lines to pass unhindered. This reduces interference in both differential and common mode noise.The PL8201T also features a low profile design, a high frequency range of up to 200 MHz, ferrite core material for improved performance, and low DCR for better power supply efficiency. Its low cost and reliability also make it a popular choice for many applications.
