Common mode chokes are designed to suppress conducted common-mode (CM) emission on a data line. They are usually placed close to the data line source which is usually a microcontroller or an interface device. The most commonly found common mode choke is known as the PL8210 common mode filter. The power line noise picked up by the windings is then attenuated by the inductance of the windings and acts as additional EMF protection.

The PL8210 is a versatile and effective solution for a wide range of EMC applications. It can be used for data line EMC, power line EMC, as well as for differential line ringing suppression. It is a cost-effective solution that can provide effective EMC for a variety of applications.
