<p>PN4117A is a high-quality field effect transistor (FET) designed specifically for audio applications including amplifiers, mixers, and signal processors. This short-channel depletion-mode FET features high input impedance, low noise, and wide bandwidth. The use of this FET has extended to a wide range of applications including speaker protection circuits, headphone amplifiers, active crossover filters, low noise microphones amplifiers, studio-quality microphone preamps, and so on.</p><p>The PN4117A is a depletion-mode JFET based on the MOSFET design. It is a source terminal grounded n-channel enhancement-mode FET with a stainless steel gate and a source lead connected directly to the gate instead of a gate terminal. The gate must be positively biased to ensure that the FET is in the off mode; otherwise, the JFET will remain in an on state even when the gate signal is zero. A positive voltage applied to the gate results in forward current, while a negative gate voltage means an off-state. Because of its depletion-mode, PN4117A has no active gain and is used primarily to create an enhanced current path.</p><p>The PN4117A is characterized by its high input impedance, low noise, and wide bandwidth. Its input impedance ranges from 5k - 100k ohms which is suitable for a wide range of audio applications, from line level to microphone level input. Moreover, PN4117A has a wide frequency response, up to 100GHz and a low noise floor. Because of its high input impedance, PN4117A has a good rejection ratio for common-mode interference.</p><p>The PN4117A is also highly reliable. It has a high quality Stainless Steel gate and a drain to source leakage of up to 0.01mA max.
