PZT2907A, also known as 2N2907A, is a small signal,npn, general-purpose transistor. Different from others, PZT2907A has a plastic enclosure, and its size is around 3 x 1.5mm, the maximum power is 500mW which makes it perfect to design, test and operate within a low power system.
PZT2907A being of npn type consists of two n-type and one p-type semiconductor materials. The two n-type materials form the Collector and the Emitter while the p-type forms the Base. As it is a BJT (Bipolar Junction Transistor) single type, it has the following pin configuration; Base, Collector, and Emitter.
As the device is tiny, it weighs less than 0.1g, requiring a low forward current for it to work effectively. As mentioned previously the maximum power which it can handle is 500mW, one can check this with it’s mentioned maximum supply voltage (Vce) of 30V and its maximum collector current of 500mA.
PZT2907A can be used as an amplifier, as current flows from theEmitter to the Collector. It is suitable as an audio amplifier, and when used this way, the Base is fed with the input voltage while the Base is the output voltage. As the collector current is almost proportional to Base voltage, the device artificially amplifies the input current and the output voltage gain.
