Thyristors – TRIACs are devices which are known as solid- state semiconductors. They are used in different applications, as they are able to switch off and on either electronic or electrical circuits, making them beneficial for regulating the current flow. They are capable of reversing the current’s direction and are known to have a low forward voltage threshold and high current carrying capacity. Working Principle

Q2004V3TP is basically a three-terminal semiconductor device. It is composed of two terminal P-type and N-type layers that are separated by a thin insulating layer or dielectric. It is constructed in such a way that when the anode and gate terminals are forward biased and the cathode is reverse biased, current starts to flow through the device. The P-type layers become forward biased, while the N-type layers become reverse biased.

The current through the device is limited by the threshold voltage of the P-type layers and the avalanche breakdown voltage of the N-type layers. When the current reaches the avalanche breakdown voltage of the N-type layers, the device reaches its maximum current limit and the current is held steady. When the current is decreased or reversed, the device will remain in the conduction state until the threshold voltage of the P-type layers is exceeded.

Once the threshold voltage is exceeded, the device will turn off and reset itself. The resetting of the device is effected by the same mechanism as the current limiting, just in the opposite direction. This process helps in protecting the device from overloading and provides a better control over the current. Thus, the working principle of Q2004V3TP is based on the current limiting, switching, and resetting capability of the device.

Q2004V3TP is widely used because of its high current carrying capacity, low switching and resetting voltages, and its ability to control the current in AC power applications.
