The Q2008DH4RP is categorized as a thyristor - TRIACs device and is an optically isolated 4 channel AC switching single-chip product with specific capability in the field of AC solid-state relay. It combines photo-coupled triode AC solid-state relays (TRIACs) and optocouplers in one chip, which is able to provide isolation, drive capability and also broad input current range.The working principle of the Q2008DH4RP is based on the same operation of a TRIAC. Its current flow is controlled by the triac gate current, allowing current to pass through the thyristor when the gate current is above a certain threshold, typically between 5-10mA. The triac gate drive is provided by 4 Photo-coupled output control circuits (OCE) which each include optically-isolated input, controlling the AC line current. When the input at the OCE becomes higher than a specific switching threshold, the optical output turns on, providing power to the photo-coupled device, in this case a TRIAC. The TRIAC gate drive current is then increased to turn on the device, allowing current to flow through the AC line.The Q2008DH4RP devices are usually used in high-voltage AC motor drives and control systems. Additionally, they can be used to control light intensity in street lamps, electric ovens, directional signal lamps, and to control electric curtain or gate openness.In terms of safety, this device can help to protect the circuit from short circuit, over current and over voltage, and it provides optically-isolated input and output for insulation, noise immunity, and high EMC/EMI levels.The Q2008DH4RP also has a quick response time, of 5µS for triggering, which can be adjusted between 6 and 250 microseconds (µS). The output circuit includes dynamic suppression, which fast responds to current leakage due to temperature drift, optical crosstalk, breaking of contact, insulation and current cycles.The Q2008DH4RP device has very low power consumption, and its standby power is less than 1mW. The devices also has a high surge protection of up to 6kV, and they provide a wide operating range and a wide temperature range, between -40°C and +100°C.The Q2008DH4RP chip is also small in size, and it has low thermal derating.
