Analog switches, multiplexers and demultiplexers are found in a wide variety of signal processing applications, with the most common being applications to manage, select and route analogue signals. The QS4A105QG is a field effect transistor (FET) based 4-port Analogue Switch which is rated from +10 to -5 Volts and is capable of operating at frequencies up to 10 GHz for RF signal routing applications.

The QS4A105QG uses an independent gate terminal to supply a control signal which controls the switching operation of the four ports. The switch incorporates two independent single pole, double throw (SPDT) analogue switches, each with their own control terminal. When the voltage of the control terminal is greater than the threshold voltage, the switch is in its ON state, and when the voltage of the control terminal is below the threshold voltage, the switch is in its OFF state.

Each switch is also capable of having a diode connected between both of the switch terminals as a protection feature which, when activated, splits the current from the ON state to the OFF state. This diode feature is beneficial in situations where a negative voltage or current occurs at the ON state, up to a maximum voltage of 0.4V for the entire switching cycle.

The QS4A105QG is often used as multiplexers and demultiplexers in wireless, telecommunications and data processing applications to manage, select and route analogue signals. As a multiplexer, it is used to switch a single input to any of two or more outputs. When used as a demultiplexer, it is used to switch a single output to any of two or more inputs.
