The RT5037GQW is a multi-cell battery charger and battery protect power management integrated circuit (PMIC) designed for use in a wide range of applications. The IC can be used to charge multiple Li-ion battery cells, as well as provide protection from over-temp, over-voltage, over-current, and under-voltage conditions.

The RT5037GQW provides a 3A charge current in 4.2V/3.8V/3.6V/3.4V/3.2V/3.0V/2.8V/2.6V/2.4V/2.2V/2.0V and 20mV/cell regulation as well as adjustable charge current and charge termination. It includes an embedded thermistor interface and hot-draw/cold-draw protection. Additionally, the IC integrates dual system guards, reverse-battery protection, failure logging, and monitoring and protection against overcharge, over-discharge, over-temperature, short-circuit and reverse input current.

The RT5037GQW enables efficient, cost-effective and safe charging of two-, three-, four-, five-, and six-cell Li-ion battery packs. It is suitable for applications such as consumer electronics, medical devices, smart wearables, and IoT devices. It meets the USB Battery Charging Specification 1.2 and supports the USB Type-C Power Delivery (PD) 2.0/3.0 protocol.

The RT5037GQW uses a programmable current source circuit to support multi-rate charging. It is capable of providing a low power supply current of 20mA to the system to support battery maintenance charging. It features an easy-to-use I2C interface and a wide input voltage range of 3.6V to 28V to allow the battery packs to be charged with a universal AC/DC adapter.
