Working Principle

The RT9818E-27GY has two distinct outputs, one for power-on-reset (POR) and the other for supply voltage monitoring (SVM). When the system power supply voltage rises above a predetermined threshold, the supply voltage monitoring output will switch on, while the power-on-reset output remains off. The supply voltage monitoring output remains on until the supply voltage falls below the set threshold. When this happens, the POR switch is triggered and the system is reset. The supply voltage monitoring output will switch off and the POR output will remain on until the supply voltage recovers above the set threshold.

The POR output is determined by the configurable reset threshold, which can either be active low or active high. The reset threshold is usually set around the mid-point of the system power supply voltage, ensuring that the system is reset when the voltage drops below the threshold, but not reset when the voltage increases above the threshold. In active-low configurations, the POR output is normally low, while in active-high configurations, the POR output is normally high.
