PTC resettable fuses are used in a variety of industrial and consumer electronic applications and are widely used in automotive, electronically-controlled appliance, home electronic, computer, communication and industrial electronic applications. The RXE020 is one such example, and offers a range of features to ensure it meets the demands of its applications.

RXE020 is a type of surface mountable resettable polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) fuse. It is designed to reliably respond to the transient over-currents and surges that traditionally cause catastrophic failure of electronic components, protecting them from destruction or damage. Upon detecting the over-current, the fuse element will change its electrical properties and act as a fuse. This thermal mechanism is called “thermal cut-off” – which allows the device to quickly shut off the circuit in an over-current situation. When the over-current is resolved, the PPTC fuse resettable device can then be reset and the circuit will be re-connected.

The RXE020 is rated for maximum currents up to 20A and its trip current range is from 0.75A to 4.5A. It has a maximum operating temperature of 85°C and an operating voltage range of 100V to 250V. The device is designed to fit into a 20mm x 20mm footprint, making it suitable for high-density mounting applications. The device is also UL and CSA approved and meets the IEC/EN/UL 60664-1 standard.
