The S12VR64EVB3 is an evaluation board provided by Freescale Semiconductor for Microcontroller and Digital Signal Processor (MCU & DSP) applications. The primary purpose of the S12VR64EVB3 board is to evaluate the 64-Volt performance of the full-featured S12VR MCU/DSP family. Among its many features, it is equipped with two CAN transceivers, 32 digital I/O lines, two analog input channels, and one analog output, a 5-V output, three digital outputs, two LIN transceivers, and one SPI port, and a USB2.0 port.
The working principle of the S12VR64EVB3 evaluation board is simple: after the board is connected to an external power supply unit (PSU), the two CAN transceivers are enabled to communicate with each other. The two LIN transceivers also become active. Using the parameters and settings of the board, the user can write software applications and test the S12VR family of products.
The board also consists of two general-purpose timers, one Event Manager, one Real Time Timer, and switches to change the running configurations. This allows the user to configure the board quickly and easily for different purposes including power measurement, code coverage, application development, or runtime probing.
In addition, the board features two RS-485 transceivers, two Universal Asynchronous Receiver and Transmitters (UARTs), one Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) with 3-wire mode, one Programmable Logic Device (PLD) to control the downstream power device, and two SSDs for an additional power supply. The board further comprises of several general-purpose I/O ports, one debug port, one external EEPROM memory, and one Error Controller.
The S12VR64EVB3 is a powerful and versatile evaluation board that enables users to evaluate the performance of the S12VR family in a wide range of applications, including automotive lighting, powertrain, and body control systems.
