SA10A-E3/73 is one type of TVS - Diodes. It is constructed with two series-connected bipolar transistors (in the same chip) that are triggered by an integrated avalanche structure, forming a non-linear diode with a defined clamping voltage. For this reason, it is known as transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode. As such, TVS-diodes act like a fast acting surge protector, absorbing transient events to safe guard against mechanical, lighting, and ground fault transients.
The main purpose of an SA10A-E3/73 diode is protecting sensitive circuits against voltage transients.
