TVS - Diodes are voltage dependent devices used to protect sensitive electrical electronics from high voltage damage and transients. They are manufactured as both single-terminal and double-terminal components. TVS - Diodes are designed to limit voltage, clamp current, protect circuits from overvoltage, and protect other components from inductive switching transients. The SA13C is an innovative two-terminal protection product specifically designed for overvoltage protection applications in automotive.
SA13C is ideally used in electric vehicle (EV), hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), and regenerative brakes(RBR), battery management systems (BMS), airbag protection systems, electronics of traction drive systems, and headlamp and tail light applications. It can also be used in telecommunications systems, consumer electronics, computer peripheral equipment, automotive audio systems, and Linux or other servers. SA13C TVS diodes provide reliable overvoltage protection up to 24V, while consuming a low stand-by current in the range of 2.4μA.
The SA13C\'s working principles are based on Multi-stage suppression technology. It is made up of a series of bidirectional low-voltage TVS diodes connected in series. The device integrates three suppression voltage stages of 12V, 15V and 18V respectively. At 1nanosecond pulse or other electrical transients, the SA13C is responsble for absorbing and controlling high-voltage current, clamping the energy within acceptable voltage limits and protect sensitive circuits. The SA13C also contains a voltage-activated varistor that suppresses the overvoltage and diverts it to ground. As a result, the current will be diverted away from sensitive circuits and thus preventing overvoltage damage.
SA13C TVS diodes offer a high peak pulse current rating of up to 8.5A and an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. It is optimized from an electrostatic discharge perspective, offering protection of up to +/- 50 kV for air and +/- 12 kV for contact discharge. The device also features low clamping voltage, fast response time, low leakage current, and integration-friendly footprint.The SA13C offers excellent ESD protection while remaining within a small package size for increased design flexibility.
