The SA30-E3/54 diode is designed for use in low-level overvoltage transient voltage suppression. Because of its low breakdown voltage, this component is particularly well-suited for applications that require transient voltage suppression for relatively small voltage levels. It is also crafted for dissipating ESD and CDE pulses more effectively than other components with a similar break-down voltage.

The SA30-E3/54 diode offers excellent clamping performance with response times as fast as a few nanoseconds and a more effective power dissipation than most components of its kind. Its low capacitance allows for high-speed signal transmission, filtering in both directions, and it prevents a circuit\'s operation from being affected by inrush currents.

The components used in the SA30-E3/54 are designed for compatibility with EMC standards and also integrate a low thermal impedance package, allowing the use of a device in more sensitive circuits. It includes a non-repetitive avalanche rating of up to 20A peak and a repetitive avalanche energy rating up to 90mJ.

The SA30-E3/54 diode works on a simple principle; it diverts the excessive current which exceeds the limit to another circuit, providing a safe route to move the extra energy. Whenever the voltage rises above the rated break-down voltage, a small amount of current is allowed to flow through the diode and get dissipated through the heat sink. So, whenever a current surge or voltage spike occurs, the diode quickly clamps the electrical signal, limiting the amount of energy that can reach other components.
