TVS (transient voltage suppressor) diodes are designed to protect sensitive electronic components from damage caused by high voltage or surges. They are a form of voltage-dependent, semiconductor diode designed to protect integrated circuits, relays, and transistors from unexpected voltage spikes that can otherwise damage sensitive circuitry over time. Specifically, TVS diodes are designed to protect against the destructive power of electrostatic discharges (ESD), electrical transients, and other electrical surges generated from lightning strikes, line noise, power outages, and overcharging.SA7.0CAHA0G application field and working principle The SA7.0C (SA7.0CAHA0G) is a 7-volts unidirectional voltage suppressor diode with a 0.5 pF capacitance value. It is designed to protect a wide variety of electronic components from the effects of overvoltage transients. TVS diodes like the SA7.0CAHA0G, offer high-quality protection from high-voltage transients. The diode is designed to suppress the overvoltage transient when the magnitude of the transient event exceeds the breakdown voltage of the device.The working principle of the SA7.0CAHA0G is based on a semiconductor diode junction. The diode junction is configured in such a way that a potential applied to one terminal causes significant current to flow across the diode junction. The current will only flow in one direction, the direction which limits the outside voltage applied. When an overvoltage transient is applied to the diode, the voltage increases beyond the breakdown voltage, and the diode switches quickly to a low-resistance state. This state of the diode shorts the transient voltage and causes the energy of the transient to be dissipated across the diode.The SA7.0CAHA0G is ideally suited for use in applications requiring a low capacitance of 0.5 pF with standard operating voltages of 5.0 to 7.0 volts. The device has a low working voltage and a wide operating temperature range from -55°C to +150°C. The operating temperature range allows for reliable operation over a wide range of temperature and usage conditions. The maximum peak clamping voltage of this device is 9.0V and the maximum surge surge current is 300A.In addition, the device offers a very low dynamic resistance (Rdynamic) and a high junction capacitance (Cj) of less than 0.25pF, which ensures that the device is capable of responding quickly to fast transients. The maximum pulse width is short enough to protect ICs from high-frequency transients such as ESD.The SA7.0CAHA0G is also RoHS compliant and UL approved, making it an ideal device for use in a wide variety of applications, especially where safety and quality are important. The device is ideal for protecting components in automotive, industrial, and consumer applications from overvoltage transients. Overall, the SA7.0CAHA0G is an excellent choice for a variety of applications requiring overvoltage protection.
