Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are electrical capacitors with a dielectric formed by an oxide layer on the surface of an aluminum foil. This oxidation layer has a much higher dielectric constant than air. This enables aluminum electrolytic capacitors to hold a higher potential than other capacitor types. SEK331M025ST is a surface mount type aluminum electrolytic capacitor with a rated capacitance of 25 μF and a voltage rating of 35VDC. Furthermore, it has a capacitance tolerance of ±20% and its operating temperature range extends from -55°C to +105°C. The SEK331M025ST aluminum electrolytic capacitor is primarily used in power supplies, circuits for regulators, inverters, and amplifiers. It is also suitable for use in switching power converters and regulators, LED drivers, audio equipment, automotive systems, and medical appliances. In these applications, the capacitor helps filter or regulate the voltage levels within a circuit. The inner structure of the SEK331M025ST aluminum electrolytic capacitor consists of a metal electrode, an electrolyte, and a non-conductive dielectric oxidized aluminum layer. The metal electrode at the anode is an aluminum foil with a layer of dielectric oxide on the top. The electrolyte is a liquid conductive medium, and the cathode side of the capacitor consists of a carbon or metal layer. When the SEK331M025ST aluminum electrolytic capacitor is subjected to a voltage, an electric field is established between the electrodes. Electrons flow through the electrolyte from the anode to the cathode and through the dielectric material between the two.
