The SI4060-C2A-GMR from Silicon Labs is a low power, 10 dBm (10 mW) RF-transmitter that can easily be included in wireless solutions. The SI4060-C2A-GMR features a crystal oscillator (COP) circuit that operates on 32 MHz or 40 MHz. This oscillator is necessary to generate the frequency of the transmission signal. It is designed to accurately generate the frequency of the transmission signal, which allows for reliable and consistent transmissions over the designed frequency range of 2.400 to 2.4835 GHz. This range covers the vast majority of wireless frequencies in use globally.
The RF portion of the transmitter utilizes a quadrature modulator and power amplifier to achieve the required output power. The modulator is integral to the direct-conversion architecture used by the SI4060-C2A-GMR, and is the result of an optimized combination of low-noise and functionality. This modulator utilizes four I and Q signals, which represent quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) type modulation schemes.
