The PLL is a circuit that generates a stable output frequency from an input signal by comparing and locking the phase of its input and output signals. This PLL contains a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), which is an oscillator whose output frequency is determined by an applied control voltage. This VCO is then synchronized to the reference signal by the internal PLL, where the VCO’s frequency is adjusted until it is in phase with the reference signal.
