The SI5335A-B08027-GMR is a high-performance clock generator and frequency synthesizer. It provides a high precision, low jitter clock signal, that is ideal for use in telecom, test and measurement, multimedia, datacom and military applications. The device is designed to generate frequency-agile clock frequencies from an input reference and is capable of synthesizing a wide range of frequencies up to 800 MHz.The SI5335A-B08027-GMR is a versatile and cost-effective solution for clock generation and frequency synthesis. It contains a wide variety of features including: programmable output frequency synthesis, output phase/duty cycles, output delay, output power-on reset, spread spectrum, output frequency pull-in range, and much more. The device also offers the ability to lock to an input reference in a very short amount of time, which is ideal for applications where the reference signal is prone to noise or instability.The SI5335A-B08027-GMR is typically used in communication, test and measurement, multimedia, and military applications. In telecom applications, the device can be used to generate frequency agile clocks for Voice-over-IP (VoIP) and other digital signal processing (DSP) applications, where precision and stability is paramount. In addition, the output frequency can be programmed in two different ways: one where the reference is slaved to the desired output frequency, or two, where the reference is set to the exact frequency of the desired output frequency.The SI5335A-B08027-GMR utilizes a phase-locked loop (PLL) to generate the frequency output from the reference signal. The PLL is a circuit that generates a stable output frequency from an input signal by comparing and locking the phase of its input and output signals. This PLL contains a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), which is an oscillator whose output frequency is determined by an applied control voltage. This VCO is then synchronized to the reference signal by the internal PLL, where the VCO’s frequency is adjusted until it is in phase with the reference signal. Once the PLL is locked, the VCO output is used as the output signal.In addition to the PLL, the SI5335A-B08027-GMR also contains a differential output buffer and a wide range of control options.
