The SI5335B-B02038-GM is a Clock/Timing - Clock Generators, PLLs, Frequency Synthesizers from Silicon Labs. It uses a high performance integer-N/Fractional-N fractional-large-signal-bandwidth phase-locked loop (FPLL) to generate output frequencies up to 200MHz in the frequency range of 10MHz to 200MHz with 50-200ps jitter. This device has two different modes: one is multi-outputs, the other is single-output. In multi-outputs mode, its two outputs are used to facilitate clock organizations. In single-output mode, two outputs are connected together, in this case, two outputs are combined into one output. This allows one frequency to be outputted by the device in both directions.

The SI5335B-B02038-GM can process wide range of input frequencies from 4kHz to 200MHz. It uses an internal voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) with an output distorted noise profile typically around -42dBc. Its VCO can accept any frequency from the input range and still maintain a high degree of accuracy. The output of this VCO is then passed to a phase/frequency detector (PFD) which compares the input frequency to the VCO frequency. Based on this comparison, the PFD adjusts the VCO frequency until it matches the input frequency. This will occur at the same time when the output frequency matches the input frequency.

The SI5335B-B02038-GM also includes adjustable control circuitry which can be used to adjust the feedback loop characteristics and phase-noise performance. It has programmable bandwidth control and digital lock detect (DLD) feature that can detect the lock condition of the loop, and digital LED drivers. Additionally, the SI5335B-B02038-GM also contains programmable spread-spectrum modulation and can determine the spectral purity with PC board implementations.

The SI5335B-B02038-GM devices provides many other user-selectable features. It has a power-up initialization using user set time-out allowing for the device to complete its synchronization process, a pin-strap mode that allows for the device to utilize external oscillator without a PLL, and a selectable frequency-lock range allowing for easier synthesizer operation at higher frequencies. Additionally, the SI5335B-B02038-GM also contains user-selectable parameters that can further modify the loop characteristics such as loop band-width, phase margin, charge pump current and VCO current.
