The SI5335D-B05149-GMR is a low power, programmable, Spread Spectrum Clock Generator (SSCG) for clock and jitter management applications. It is a highly advanced, fully digital, low power, synthesizable high performance clock generator, with a wide integrated frequency range, ultra low jitter performance, and competitive pricing. It is designed, manufactured and sold by Silicon Laboratories and uses a variety of semiconductor technologies in its design. This device is ideal for applications such as computing, communication, industrial, automotive, and consumer electronics. It enables customers to optimize performance, reduce cost and realize significant power savings.The SI5335D-B05149-GMR offers three different modes: Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) mode, PLL mode and Spread Spectrum Clock Generation (SSCG) mode. DDS mode is the default mode for the SI5335D-B05149-GMR. It provides an extremely fast settling time, low phase noise and wide frequency range from 155MHz to 645MHz. It also offers low logic input and output levels. The programmability of the DDS mode allows for the generation of any frequency from DC to 645MHz. PLL mode is available for applications that require higher frequency generation and lower jitter operation. It offers a wide tuning range from 100 kHz to 535 kHz and provides operation as both integer and fractional PLL. When used in PLL mode, the SI5335D-B05149-GMR can provide low jitter, high frequency output signals with excellent signal integrity.Finally, SSCG mode offers an energy-efficient approach to driving output clock frequencies. Spread spectrum clocking is a technique used to reduce total power consumed by an integrated circuit device. It works by modulating the clock signal at a low rate. This modulation reduces both peak and average switching power while maintaining the same period and overall shape of the signal output. The SI5335D-B05149-GMR can further increase power efficiency by lowering its operating voltage. At the core of the SI5335D-B05149-GMR are two Clock Output Drivers (OD) and a Phase-Locked Loop (PLL). The OD consist of a Digital Microcontroller (DMC) and a Range Selector (RS), which control the output frequency of the device in all its three modes. The PLL consists of a digitally controlled oscillator (DCO), which adjusts the output frequency of the device based on the input reference frequency. The DCO is then connected to one of two Programmable Divider Chains (PDC) which divide the frequency down to the desired output frequency.Due to its low-power and highly programmable nature, the SI5335D-B05149-GMR can be tailored for many different application areas including data-communications, networking, computing, consumer electronics, automotive, and industrial automation. It has a power consumption of only 1 mW and supports wide supply voltages (1.8V to 3.3V) making it ideal for battery operated and power sensitive electronic systems.The SI5335D-B05149-GMR is the perfect solution for clock and jitter management applications in a wide range of industries.
