Working Principle of SI5345C-D-GM
The SI5345C-D-GM is a fully-integrated Clock Generator utilizing multiple fractional-N frequency synthesis techniques for clock generation. It uses a single Reference Clock signal to generate high quality output clock signals with jitter attenuation. The SI5345C-D-GM is able to source multiple output frequencies that can range from 8kHz to 800MHz. This includes sub-clock frequencies, clock multiplication and division, fractional frequencies, and beyond.
The working mechanism can be summarized in two parts. Firstly, the Reference Clock signal is sent through a PLL for multiplication or division. The PLL can multiply or divide the Ref Clock by an integer or fixed integer multiple or divide. The output of the PLL is then fed into a digital frequency synthesizer (DFS), which can generate a frequency that is an exact multiple or division of the PLL output frequency. The output of the DFS is a highly accurate clock signal.
