The SI5351A-B04756-GM clock/timing generator is an integrated solution IC that provides low-power, small-footprint clock and timing solution in nanosecond programmed frequency range. The device is suitable for simulation, control and laboratory applications. It is an extremely versatile multiple-function clock generator that can operate from crystal oscillators or from external oscillator sources. The device can generate up to six independently programmed clock outputs with a total of three output frequency ranges. The device can be programmed for variety of output frequencies, modes and drive strengths.The SI5351A-B04756-GM is a high-speed, frequency-programmable clock generator integrated circuit (IC) with a total of six outputs. It has a wide operating range and can be programmed to generate frequencies from 0.1MHz to 635MHz (±1.5%) with <2ps equivalent time interval (ETR) resolution. The SI5351A-B04756-GM has three different voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) frequencies and various features, such as two separate reference clocks, syntonization option, output gating feature and spread spectrum modulation capability, which make it an ideal clock generator for a variety of industrial, automotive and mobile applications. The multiple VCO and output frequencies enable customers to configure the device for single or multiple crystal applications.The SI5351A-B04756-GM is an all-digital clock generator which does not require manual adjustments to achieve desired frequencies. It provides multiple output frequencies simultaneously and can be operated from either a single or multiple reference clocks or from an external interrupt.The working principle of the device is based on a phase-locked loop (PLL) architecture. The PLL consists of a single-ended oscillator (VCO) connected to a programmable phase detector. The VCO is driven by an input reference clock, and the phase detector phase-compares the reference clock to the output of the VCO, constantly correcting the frequency of the output to the reference frequency. Changes in the reference frequency will be automatically corrected within a short time. The output of the PLL is a digital clock output that is locked to the reference frequency.The SI5351A-B04756-GM supports a wide range of operating parameters and features. It is programmable in both frequency, speed and output type. A variety of power supply options are available, including 2.5V, 3.3V and 5V supply voltage. The device is RoHS compliant and supports four power saving modes - power-down, power-on-hold, high-impedance, and fast-startup.The device is intended for applications requiring accurate clock timing generation, such as DDR and FPGA designs or for reference oscillators for microcontroller-based designs.
