SI5350A-B02451-GT Clock Generators, PLLs, Frequency Synthesizers
The SI5350A-B02451-GT from Silicon Laboratories provides a high-performance, Any-Frequency clock generator that integrates two low-skew outputs and two buffered analog outputs of adjustable amplitude and frequency. This device is ideal for applications requiring output frequencies between 27 MHz and 2.7 GHz. At the core of this clock generator is an on-chip voltage controlled oscillator that operates up to 880 MHz. The frequency and amplitude of the output of this clock generator can be adjusted over a common bus interface, that also provides programmable device parameters and a monotonic frequency sweep.
The SI5350A-B02451-GT clock generator offers an integrated jitter reduction phase-lock loop (PLL) with multiple feedback paths and a dual-modulus frequency divider in order to reduce jitter and maintain low phase noise performance. It has programmable phase delay and phase locks, and integrated frequency synthesizers to provide continuous frequency hopping. Working Principle of SI5350A-B02451-GT
The working principle of the SI5350A-B02451-GT is based on coupling a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) with its associated low noise jitter reduction PLL. The PLL allows for the device to maintain excellent signal integrity and low phase noise performance. The device also has a dual-modulus frequency divider in order to reduce jitter and maintain the low phase noise performance.
The frequency of the VCO is adjusted via the common bus interface, which also allows for setting of the programmable device parameters and monotonic frequency sweeps. These parameter settings as well as the amplitude control feature can be commanded by the bus interface as well. The SI5350A-B02451-GT also comes with an integrated microprocessor, internal memory and analytical algorithms to make well-balanced decisions on tuning the VCO during frequency hopping.
The inputs to the clock generator can be a combination of E1, T1, H.100 and TCLK while the outputs can be divided by a factor between 1 and 511, depending on the desired output frequency. The SI5350A-B02451-GT clock generator also comes with an on-chip phase-frequency detector (PFD) and an integrated oscillator phase noise performance of -125 dBc/Hz.
