The SI5351A-B04690-GMR is a high-performance Clock/Timing - Clock Generators, PLLs, Frequency Synthesizers for the generation of multiple low-jitter clock and data signals. It is suitable for a wide variety of applications including clock synthesis, clock distribution, clock buffering and re-clocking, PLL based timing and frequency synthesis, digital delay lines and clock/data conversion.
The SI5351A-B04690-GMR provides three low-jitter, low-phase-noise clock outputs suitable for data conversion and timing synchronization in a variety of data communications, network, and telecommunications systems. In addition, it supports a programmable, 16-bit spread spectrum clock output for modulation bandwidth reduction and EMI-reduction in the system.
The SI5351A-B04690-GMR is a versatile multi-output clock synthesizer and PLL IC that can be configured through a single serial port interface to generate multiple clock output signals at different frequencies and phase delays. It can generate clock output frequencies up to 200MHz, with programmable phase and fraction of a Hertz resolution. This feature makes it ideal for frequency-hopping and wideband clock-sharing applications.
The device is extremely versatile, with a comprehensive set of features, including programmable clock multipliers and dividers, on-chip voltage regulator (2.5V), clock outputs (up to 3), clock synchronization, programmable spread spectrum, on-chip oscillator, spread spectrum, and digital phase lock loop. The SI5351A-B04690-GMR can be programmed for spread spectrum with different frequencies and power spectral densities. It also provides programmable duty cycle control of both the oscillator output and clock outputs.
The device includes a PLL with programmable control registers, on-chip loop filter, reference clock, and VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) with selectable frequencies up to 200MHz. The PLL can be configured to operate in either an open loop or closed loop mode. In addition, the reference selected by the PLL can be an external clock, an on-chip oscillator, a clock input or an external reference. The PLL features a programmable reference divider to support a wide range of input reference frequencies.
The SI5351A-B04690-GMR supports 3 programmable clock outputs, each of which can be used to generate multiple independent and identical clock signals using either PLLs or on-chip oscillators. The clock outputs can be individually enabled or disabled and can be programmed to operate at different frequencies. The output clock can be enabled/disabled by a dedicated control pin. The on-chip oscillators can be programmed to operate in either a square wave or triangle wave mode at frequencies up to 200MHz.
The device also has a dedicated pin that can be used to synchronise the on-chip oscillator. This feature is particularly useful in applications that require tight phase accuracy between multiple clock outputs. It can also be used to synchronise the PLL to an external reference clock. The device has a built-in phase-frequency detector which can be used to make synchronous adjustments to the output clocks for improved phase/frequency lock performance.
In addition, the device includes several advanced features, such as a programmable spread-spectrum mode and an adjustable power-down signal. The on-chip spread-spectrum mode can be programmed to reduce undesirable signal spurii in frequency-hopping and broadband signal applications.
