SI8641BA-C-IUR Application Field and Working Principle

The SI8641BA-C-IUR is a digital isolator integrated circuit designed for use in data communication applications. It is equipped with a 32 bit, buffered data bus, providing bidirectional data transmission between two interconnected systems. It provides significant levels of galvanic isolation, and signals can be exchanged with isolation up to 3000V. It features an array of advanced diagnostic features, and includes a fault-tolerant design, allowing it to withstand electrical bursts, rapid changes in voltage, and transients associated with high-speed logic circuits. Its two-wire serial, 9-pin interface allows for full-duplex communication.

The primary function of the SI8641BA-C-IUR is to preserve signal integrity and reduce crosstalk between the two systems. This is accomplished through its isolator architecture which enables maximum speed and performance, while providing noise immunity from the connected systems. The isolation barrier is created by using transformer technology which is immune to external interference and offers a highly reliable signal path between systems. It employs optimized magnetics, with an integrated PIN diode, which is designed to minimize power consumption and interference while providing maximum reliability.

The SI8641BA-C-IUR is ideal for applications that require high-speed communication and signal filtering, such as data communication, PC peripherals, consumer electronics, power management and instrumentation. It is capable of up to 1 Mbps of bidirectional throughput, operating at 3.3V and 5V, and supports up to 8 channels of digital isolation.
