SI8645BB-B-IS Application Field and Working Principle

The SI8645BB-B-IS digital isolator is suitable for use in a variety of applications, including: industrial and medical instrumentation, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), actuators, machines, automotive controls, household appliances, consumer electronics, and other embedded systems. It offers high noise immunity, wide common-mode and differential-mode voltage ranges, superior latch-up immunity, and very low propagation delays. The device features two input channels and two output channels, and each channel is independent and isolated from the other. It operates over a wide temperature range, and is unaffected by EMI (electromagnetic interference) or power-on transients.

The SI8645BB-B-IS provides galvanic isolation between the two input and output channels. Each channel isolates and prevents the propagation of noise between the input and output sides of the device. The isolator utilizes an array of thin-film transistors (TFTs) and an integrated passive circuit to provide extremely low jitter. It has a propagation delay of less than 5ns and is capable of handling data rates up to 26MHz. The isolator is powered by 3.3V or 5V supplies and is able to handle both single-ended and differential inputs.
