The device provides isolation between each of the four channels, as well as between each channel and ground, and is able to carry out analog-to-digital conversion on the incoming signal, allowing the device to convert low speed (125 kbps) to high speed (1.5 Mbps) and vice versa.

The SI8715BC-A-IS is also suitable for inverting digital signals, such as those in integrated circuits (ICs) and logic gates. It can be used as a buffer between different logic families, such as SRAM and FLASH, and can also be used to reduce voltage references between devices operating at different power levels. The device is also capable of isolating digital signals from ground-referenced and low-frequency (1 kHz to 10 kHz) signals.
