Digital isolators are used to electrically isolate two or more components or circuits from each other. This isolation is achieved by electromechanical or optical coupling, instead of through electrical pathways, providing isolation of up to 6000V, or even higher. Digital isolators use integrated circuits that are designed to interconnect digital logic and isolated signals. These circuits are used to pass digital signals and safely isolate power and/or grounds from one side to the other.The SI8719BC-A-IP is an intelligent digital isolator IC that is meant for applications such as motor control, power supplies, medical, and industrial automation. This device contains two types of integrated circuits, namely isolated general purpose I/O, and digital isolator logic. The device also features an integrated power supply voltage regulator and an internal buffer that can be used for linking two different systems operating in two different power domains.In the case of the SI8719BC-A-IP, it utilizes a BiCMOS process and microprocessor-based digital logic circuits to provide maximum isolation performance. The device includes two 25.6 KΩ isolation channels with a maximum data rate of 40 Mbit/s. It is also designed to withstand high peak input voltage and withstand peak transient voltages of up to 6000 V.When it comes to the working principle of the SI8719BC-A-IP, the two parts of the IC are completely electrically isolated from each other. On the first side, it is powered by the MCU or controller, and on the other side, it is powered by the isolated system’s power source. The digital logic provides the necessary signal sensing, buffering, and retiming functions for isolated I/O ports. The input side of the device samples the MCU\'s output port voltage and compares it with an internal reference voltage.
