The SJ6006DRP is a rectangular silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) featuring a flat surface and a low-profile package. It is a semiconductor device made of a combination of synthetic materials and silicon crystal, which acts as an electrical switch. With two of the three terminals connected and current flowing through the other terminal, the SCR can be activated. This feature makes it a useful component in controlling, regulating and switching power in many devices.

When the voltage applied between the Anode and Cathode of the SCR is above a certain threshold, the SCR starts conducting. A current impulse applied on the gate terminal will further switch the SCR into the forward-biased region. The device then turns "On" and current can flow freely through it. When the gate current is removed, the SCR becomes non-conductive, and will remain in the non-conductive state until a high gate current is applied, or until the voltage applied between Anode and Cathode is reduced.

In order to turn the SCR off, the applied voltage between G and K should be reduced. This can be done either by removing the Anode voltage, or by applying a negative voltage to the Gate terminal. This prevents the SCR from conducting, and helps to ensure that it is "Off" when it is required to be.
