SK32-TP

SK32-TP diodes are unidirectional, non-repetitive, silicon-controlled rectifiers with a nominal forward current rating of 32 A and a peak repetitive forward current rating of 100 A. Diodes are usually categorized based on their features, such as rectification type, power rating, voltage rating, current rating and configuration type. The SK32-TP falls into the category of diodes known as “Single Rectifiers”, due to its simplified construction and single-directional current conduction.

Application Field

The SK32-TP can be used in a variety of applications, such as in AC adapters, battery chargers, DC/DC converters and power supplies that require high current capacity. In addition, the device can be used in circuits where low-inductance characteristics and high surge current resistance are essential.

Working Principle

SK32-TP diodes are constructed with silicon-based semiconductor materials, and integrated with two P-type and two N-type layers. This four-layer design allows the device to both conduct and block electric current. When a positive potential is applied to the anode, electrons flow from the anode to the cathode, which creates current flow. This is known as forward conduction. Alternately, if a negative potential is applied to the cathode, the device will block any current flow. This reversible operation is called bi-directional conduction. SK32-TP diodes are capable of blocking voltage up to its rated peak repetitive reverse voltage (PVR).
