Gas Discharge Tube Arresters (GDT) are electrical components designed to protect sensitive electrical circuits from overvoltage and lightning strikes. The SL1021B200RS is a GDT module designed to protect circuits from overvoltage and lightning strikes.The SL1021B200RS is a Single Stage GDT with Current Balance Technology, allowing it to protect against both lightning and overvoltage conditions. It is composed of a single 10mm Gas Discharge Tube, a two-pin Male Plug, a MOV (Metal-oxide Varistor) and an optional neutralizing capacitor. The module is rated to protect up to 200Vdc or peak AC and is suitable for medium to heavy surge requirements.The working principle of the SL1021B200RS lies in its ability to absorb a large amount of current before saturating. When a voltage spike is detected, the GDT becomes electrically conductive and begins to divert the surge current away from the circuit. This reduces the surge energy and dissipates it into the ground. The GDT is also accompanied by a MOV which shorts the incoming surges or spikes to 0V, thereby providing additional protection for the circuit. In addition, an optional neutralizing capacitor is also included within the module which helps to dissipate the charge that might be left over from the MOV and the GDT. Together, these components work together to protect sensitive circuits from damage.The SL1021B200RS is suitable for applications where a high surge protection is required in order to prevent premature device and equipment failure. It can be used in DC power systems, in telecommunications equipment, and in automotive electronics, as well as in a variety of other applications where high power transients might occur.
