Working Principle
The SL28770ELI is designed with a spread spectrum clock (SSC) function. The SSC module is composed of a fractional N-division frequency synthesizer, a clock mapper, a spread spectrum frequency generator, and a dual-channel divider. The signal input from the oscillator is first processed by the fractional N-division frequency synthesizer. Then, the SSC module can generate a clock output with zero delay and adjustable frequency.
The output frequency is adjustable through changing the control word of the SSC module. The lowest adjustable frequency is determined by the input signal frequency. When the SSC module operates at a higher output frequency than the maximum value determined by the input signal frequency, the output signal will be divided by the clock mapper. The reference clock frequency decides the maximum output frequency and the range of the adjustable output frequency.
Furthermore, the frequency of the output signal is modulated by the spread spectrum frequency generator. The output frequency of this generator can be modulated by changing various parameters such as the spreading ratio and the spreading center frequency. Adjusting the frequency modulation of the output can help to meet the system requirements and reduce the EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference).
The SL28770ELI can also be used as a signal transceiver. It can inversely transceiver signals from the transmitter side to the receiver side.
