SLSTK3402A is an evaluation board for MCU, DSP, and embedded applications. It combines MCU and DSP capabilities to allow full-functioned development and evaluation of system-level applications. The evaluation board includes a low-power microcontroller unit (MCU) SoC (system-on-chip), a USB-based debug adapter, programming header, and MCU programming software, which makes it convenient and easy to use.The SLSTK3402A features an ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller core capable of running up to 16Mb of ROM and 32Kb of ROM. It comes equipped with power and high-performance IO controllers for external communications such as USB, I2C, and SPI. Its on-board peripherals include two serial ports and four ADC channels, as well as eight PWM channels and two timers. The peripheral setups are designed to take full advantage of the hardware accelerators to minimize latency and power consumption. The SLSTK3402A provides a low-cost, plug-n-play platform for developing sophisticated system applications with multiple microcontrollers. It supports up to four development environments, including the following:1. IAR Embedded Workbench: A powerful, all-in-one IDE for in-circuit programming, source code debugging, and test and trace debugs for developing and debugging system applications.2. Code Composer Studio: An advanced IDE optimized for development of embedded applications, especially for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers. It includes an assembler, debugger and simulator.3. KEIL ARM: An IDE used to develop firmware code for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.4. Atmel Studio: A user-friendly IDE to develop, compile and debug code written for AVR and ARM architectures.The SLSTK3402A board allows developers to execute the embedded application from the on-board memory or external flash memory, which makes it easy to develop and test new product ideas. Additionally, the board is compatible with JTAG-based debugging tools and on-board debuggers, allowing developers to develop, debug and optimize their applications faster. In terms of working principle, the SLSTK3402A board is designed to be used with an embedded real-time operating system (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS or µC/OS.
