The SMBG5367C/TR13 is a single Zener diode with an integrated resettable fuse manufactured by Multicomp. It is an axial-leaded component for through-hole mounting, housed in a 0.45" diameter ceramic tube. It operates from a wide operating voltage range from 4.7 to 75 V and is used for the protection of electronic components and systems from abnormally high current. It is suitable for a wide range of applications including circuit protection, lighting control, power supplies and automotive components.
The SMBG5367C/TR13 is constructed from an extremely robust ceramic tube for superior thermal, environmental, and mechanical protection. The component is also suitable for lead-free reflow soldering. Its power consumption is low and efficiency is high.
The SMBG5367C/TR13 has two major functions. The first function is its ability to clamp voltages between the two terminals at a specified level. This function acts as a protection against transient voltages that may occur due to a malfunction elsewhere in the system. The second function is to provide a low resistance connection between the two terminals. This ensures that current does not significantly drop during operation, allowing the circuit to keep running.

The working principle of the SMBG5367C/TR13 is based on the fact that the Zener diode has a greater resistance to the current flow in the reverse direction than in the forward direction. This voltage stays constant even if the voltage at the anode side increases. As the voltage across the diode increases, the current through the diode also increases. When the voltage across the Zener diode reaches a certain limit value known as the Zener breakdown voltage, the Zener diode starts conducting in the reverse direction and current passes through it.
The SMBG5367C/TR13 is used in a wide range of applications including: circuit protection, lighting control and power supply, automotive components,dc-dc converter circuits and load switching. In each application, it works by protecting components and systems against abnormally high current by providing a low resistance connection between the two terminals to maintain current flow. In addition, the Zener diode also clamps voltages between the two terminals at a specified level, preventing transients from occurring due to a malfunction elsewhere in the system.
