The SMM4F10A-TR TVS (transient voltage suppressor) diode is a unidirectional device used to protect sensitive electronic components from voltage transients caused by lightning or other fast rising waveforms. The device is composed of a semiconductor junction of two dissimilar materials (silicon and gold) connected in a reverse direction. The semiconductor junction can absorb high levels of transient energy, up to 4,000 Watts in a single strike.
