Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors (AECs) have emerged as phenomenal components in power management, switch-mode power supplies and general applications because of a wide range of benefits they offer. Specifically, SN101M016ST AECs, with a load life of 1.000 hour at 105°C, are designed with organic solid electrolyte technology.

The ESR results from internal capacitor losses that create an active resistance in series with the capacitor’s reactive impedance. In the case of the SN101M016ST, a combination of organic solid electrolyte and advanced processing techniques has been used to achieve an exceptionally low ESR. In turn, this allows the SN101M016ST to provide higher ripple current performance and extended operating life.
The main working principle for the SN101M016ST is through the charging of an electrolyte cell between two separators. This electrolyte is a conductive liquid that, when charged, forms an electric double layer capacitance (EDL) between the two separators. This EDL provides high capacitance and low ESR, allowing this type of capacitor to reach very low equivalent series inductance levels and support the inrush current requirements of high-end designs.
The SN101M016ST capacitor is suitable for many different applications such as in solar cell inverters, power supplies, and switch-mode power supplies (SMPS). This capacitor can also be used during the charging and/or discharging of batteries to reduce the total system losses, as well as for the circuit decoupling of high frequency voltage and current spikes.
