SN74HC4066NG4 is a analog switch or multiplexer or demultiplexer which is parts of an interface. It is built with four channels in Single Inline Package (SIP) which contains four independent single pole quadruple throw (SP4T). This device contains four analog switches within a single package, and each switch consists of two enables and two inputs. SN74HC4066NG4 uses CMOS logic levels to control the switches which can be operated independently as well as simultaneously.

SN74HC4066NG4 application field includes Automatic Test Equipments (ATE), Audio Signal Switches, Electronic Grades, Instrumentation, Monitor Switches and Communication Devices. This device is used in many fields, It has a wide range of applications in multiplexing/demultiplexing, audio signal routing and measurement instrument control. One of the most common usage of this device is in the sound circuit of musical instruments, a guitar amplifier, a sound processor or any other type of sound system.

The working principle of SN74HC4066NG4 is that the two enables control the switching between the two inputs. When one of the two enables is high, the inputs are assigned to the output of that enable. When both enables are low, the outputs are tri-stated. When both enables are high, the switch effectively works as a four channel multiplexer/demultiplexer. The two control lines control the switching between the two inputs.
