The SN75DP122RTQR is a multi-channel rate-matching integrated circuit (IC) especially designed for very high-speed application field and capable of providing low power dissipation. It is ideal for bridging between two clock domains that have different rates, such as a 100-MHz video signal and a rated-locked loop (PLL) component running at 200 MHz.
Application Fields
The SN75PD122RTQR IC is ideally used in applications in which two clock domains (synchronized and asynchronous) have to communicate with each other in a very efficient manner. Such applications include digital signal processing (DSP), audio/video processing, connected cars, telecommunications, and wireless communications. The multi-level power savings will usually support the employed low-power applications.
Due to its compatibility with a wide range of interface protocols like NVIDIA, PCIe, SRIO, xATM, and I2C, the SN75PD122RTQR IC supports very high-speed application field in an extensive range of applications.
Working Principle
The SN75DP122RTQR IC is executed as a two-phase rate-matching matchmaker which uses advanced clock synchronizing techniques. For instance, its clock cycle accuracy is within the range of -1 to +1 percent, while its cycle-time accuracy of ±85 parts per million (PPM).
The device integrates two input receivers, two output drivers, and logic functions into a single package. It also has a built-in “distributed” circuit which is used to handle the multiple clock domain inputs. This circuit generally achieves up to 4:1 clock domain divergence ratio between inputs and outputs.
Moreover, because of the built-in rate-matching engine, the power savings usually peak at 80 percent when that engine is used. In this way, the reliable device offers low-power switching and signal bridging applications between the two clock domains.
The SN75PD122RTQR IC comes in a very versatile package, PQFP-44 (PCQ44). With clever design layout and thin package, it can easily fit into most environment and application fields.
