The SN75LP1185DW is a bidirectional adultamorphous silicon switching device from Texas Instruments and is part of their family of general purpose, voltage-level translating devices. This device is ideal for applications especially in low voltage microprocessors, logic and memory interfaces and power saving operations between 1.8V and 3.3V logic level components. In addition, SN75LP1185DW also provides S9 signals for hot insertion applications and is available in the DSBGA or SOIC package. It can operate over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.

The SN75LP1185DW is a dual dobidirectional voltage translator that uses two transferring channels, reverse built-in logic, and duty cycle outputs. With 4 common pins shared among both output dual chs, these two channels can realize two-channel bidirectional switching, and some applications can realize synchronization of fourthrial signals. The common pins are shared in the form of four input pins, which is convenient to switch between two voltage levels. The two channels also can be used independently, realizing FET-like transmission. The SN75LP1185DW supports working temperatures from -40℃ to 85℃, which greatly expands its application field.

The SN75LP1185DW has several key features that make it suitable for use with the different processors on the market. It has built-in Fail-Safe Logic that prevents any output from being in an indeterminate state during power transition. This device is capable of true bidirectional voltage level translation, and also provides S9 signals for hot insertion applications. The working principle of SN75LP1185DW is depending on the two transfer channels on the device. On the rising edge of the input signal, the output on the two channels move to opposite levels: for example, if one channel moves from low to high, the other one moves from high to low. Likewise on the falling edge of the input signal, the output on the two channels once again move to opposite levels. Additionally, when the logic level of the input signal is low, the output voltage only has power supply level, while the logic level of the input signal is high, the output voltage will be the opposite level of the power supply voltage.
