The SP485EN-L is a driver, receiver, transceiver that provides low power consumption and low board space requirements, as well as a full range of communication speeds from 250kbps up to 6.7Mbps.This device features full-duplex (bi-directional) communication powered by a single supply, and low power consumption at both low and high speeds, allowing the device to be used in a variety of applications where maximum power efficiency is needed. The SP485EN-L also features programmable output termination and fault detection, as well as an adjustable output impedance and control logic to simplify the interface.The SP485EN-L is compatible with the RS-485 physical interface, which is a standard-defined network of connecting devices suitable for multi-point communication, where long communication distances are required. This device uses a differential line to allow for communication across long distances with low power consumption. The differential line provides better matched impedance and reduces the effect of external EMI/RFI noise.The SP485EN-L can operate in two different modes, either as an open drain receiver or as a single-ended driver with enable and control logic. In the open-drain receiver mode, the input line is connected to the open-drain output and the output is configured to enable the receiver and detect any fault conditions on the input.
