A Tarvolt Variable Suppressor (TVS) diode is an electrical component which is used to protect electrical circuits from induced electrical overvoltage such as high-voltage spikes caused by switching transients, lightning, electrostatic discharge, and other electrical disturbances. On top of this, it doesn’t just protect the electrical lines from the damaging overvoltage, it also has the capability to ensure that voltage always remains at a safe and steady level within the applicable normal operating parameters, thus preventing the components of an electrical circuit connected to it from experiencing the effects of an induced overvoltage event. The SPHV24-01ETG TVS Diode is a very specific type of TVS diode that is used in mobile phones to protect the telephone line from overvoltage transients. This TVS diode is designed to prevent interference caused by transients with 100A surge current capability, 2kV surge peak pulse power dissipation, -55°C to 150°C operating temperature range and 4.5kV breakdown voltage.The working principle of this diode is very simple.
