Introduction

SS320 R7G is a single phase power rectifier designed for applications in automotive and industrial electronics. It is a high power, low forward-voltage drop, low leakage current and high operating temperature range, ideal for applications that require constant voltage or current. This single phase rectifier is most commonly used in applications such as computer power supplies, industrial power supplies, automotive power supplies and general rectification in inductive loads.

Structure

The SS320 R7G power rectifier consists of two leads connected to two slips of copper that create a full rectified and smoothed output when under voltage or current pulse. Each slip of copper is connected to a terminal is connected to the printed circuit board. The rectifier also includes a center pin whose purpose is to provide a direct current current path. The terminals are separated to provide insulation and to reduce the risk of accidental short circuits. The terminations adopt an improved termination technology which enhances the labor-saving convenience of the product.

Application Field

Working Principle

Due to the high currents present in these devices, the SS320 R7G rectifier utilizes a Schottky barrier technology to effectively minimize forward voltage drop, allowing for large currents to be passed through more efficiently. The rectifier also ensures a low leakage current. The rectifier works by allowing the electrons to pass through the barrier unaffected for a certain amount, but capturing the electrons during the reverse voltage and limiting the inherent state of conduction, thus limiting the amount of current that can be passed. This results in a stable output current. In addition, the SS320 R7G also employs a higher frequency switching to provide a better power output. This is done by using two sets of alternately reversed voltage terminals, connected to the two slips of the rectifier. When in use, one of the sets will be in the off-state, while the other is in the active-state. This switching pattern results in a robust and stable voltage & current output, and also helps to reduce heat buildup and losses.
