RS-485 is a multi-drop serial communications protocol that uses differential signaling over twisted pair. Working Principle
The ST485EXDR operates by echoing the data it receives on its TxD (transmit) line. The direction control logic embedded in the device polls each node on the line, sequentially testing for the line drivers output state. If the drivers output state is enabled, the drivers line is driven. If enabled, the drivers line is then monitored for TxD activity, and if activity is detected, the drivers line is driven.
