As the fields of information technology and low-power applications continue to progress, more and more components are required to meet the ever-demanding standards. One such component is the STOD32ATPQR, a special Purpose Voltage Regulator (PMIC). The STOD32ATPQR is a DC-DC regulator with a wide input voltage range, precise voltage adjustment and protection features. It has an industry-leading total power dissipation of 1. 8W and is ideal for applications such as industrial automation, communication systems, robotics, servers and storage devices.
The STOD32ATPQR is based on a regulated buck topology which uses a MOSFET to switch the input voltage down to a lower regulated voltage level. It contains numerous protection features to protect both the device and the system from damage due to over-voltage, short-circuit, over-temperature and overload conditions.
One of the main features of the STOD32ATPQR is the feedback (FB) circuit which is used to control the output voltage. The FB circuit consists of an operational amplifier, a resistive divider and an error amplifier. The output voltage is proportional to the voltage applied to the FB pin.
The STOD32ATPQR also has an on-board burst-mode control (BM) circuit which is used to reduce the power consumption and improve the overall efficiency. When the system is in idle mode, the BM circuit will gradually reduce the switching frequency thereby reducing the amount of power dissipated by the MOSFET.
In addition to the burst-mode control, the STOD32ATPQR also features over-voltage protection (OVP) and thermal protection (TSP) mechanisms. The OVP circuit monitors the output voltage and shuts off the MOSFET when it exceeds a predetermined threshold. The TSP mechanism is used to protect the device from overheating by automatically reducing the switching frequency when the temperature reaches a certain level.
Finally, the STOD32ATPQR features an adjustable output voltage range from 0.8V to 5.5V. This makes it ideal for applications with a wide range of output voltage requirements. The device also has both external and internal one-time programmable (OTP) memory to store system configuration.
All in all, the STOD32ATPQR is a specialized Voltage Regulator (PMIC) tailored for industrial and low-power applications. It has excellent protection features and a wide adjustable output voltage range, making it perfect for a wide range of system requirements.
