The SX15GSMT is an advanced pressure sensor technology that is designed for high temperature, medium pressure, low range applications. This transducer utilizes a direct force sensing element that provides accuracies better than ± 0.15% FS, and can measure a pressure range of 0 to 600 PSI. The sensor is available in both threaded brass and stainless steel housing models.

A pressure transducer is a device used to measure changes in pressure of a particular fluid medium, such as water or air. A pressure transducer can be divided into two types, based on the technology used. The first type uses a diaphragm to sense a pressure change and produce an electrical signal, whereas the second type utilizes a strain gauge transduction element. The SX15GSMT utilizes the strain gauge transduction element by detecting a pressure change directly.

The strain gauge technology is a measurement principle where a change in strain is converted into an electrical signal. The strain gauges are mounted on a metal diaphragm. As the pressure is applied to the diaphragm, it directly affects the position of the strain gauge. The SX15GSMT uses this principle which allows an electrical signal to be generated corresponding to changes in pressure.

The SX15GSMT is composed of several key components, which include a strain gauge, a signal conditioning circuit, and a pressure port. The strain gauge, which is the measurement component of the transducer, is connected to the diaphragm. As the pressure is applied to the diaphragm, it applies a force which compresses the strain gauge. This produces a change in electrical resistance, which is then detected by the signal conditioner. The signal conditioner amplifies the signal and processes it through a low-pass filter to reduce noise. The pressure port is responsible for providing the pressure input to the transducer.

The SX15GSMT is designed for use in extreme temperatures up to 200°C, and is suited for applications in oil and gas production, general industrial machinery, hydraulic systems, and subsea equipment.
