TVS - DiodesTVS - Diodes are a type of protection device which protects electric circuits from damage due to electrical transients. They are also known as Transient Voltage Suppressors (TVS), transient voltage surge suppressors (TVSS), or spike suppressors. TVS-Diodes are basically a thyristor such as a silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) or a metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) with a reverse-biased Zener diode connected in parallel. The reverse-biased diode provides the clamping of the voltage during an electrical surge, thereby protecting the circuit.The SZ1SMB14CAT3G is a TVS-Diode manufactured by Vishay, which is designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from damage due to electrical transients.
