The Gas Discharge Tube Arresters (GDT) is an overvoltage protection component that deflects high voltages. A GDT arrester is composed of a gas-filled tube, connected between two electrodes. The electrodes can be carbon rods, two metal plates or an external conductor. The gas tube can be filled with a variety of noble gases or other gases such as sulfur hexafluoride.
